Top Splash Pads & Parks in Denton and Collin County
When summer hits North Texas, you need a short list of places where the kids can run, cool off, and burn energy without turning the day into a huge production. Denton and Collin County both have some amazing parks and splash pads, whether you are looking for a quick after-nap outing, a shaded playground, a picnic spot, or a full afternoon adventure.
Here are some of the top splash pads and parks to check out this summer.
Denton County Favorites
Heritage Park Splash Pad — Flower Mound
Heritage Park is one of Flower Mound’s best family spots, and the splash pad makes it even better during the warmer months. The Town of Flower Mound has splash pads at Heritage Park and Canyon Falls Park, typically open May 1 through September 30 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather and maintenance permitting.
This is a great option if you want a splash pad plus room to enjoy the park before or after water play. It is easy to make this a quick morning stop or a low-key afternoon outing.
Canyon Falls Park Splash Pad — Flower Mound
Canyon Falls Park is another Flower Mound splash pad option and a favorite for families on the west side of town. It gives you that neighborhood park feel while still offering a fun way for kids to cool off.
If you live near Flower Mound, Argyle, or Northlake, this is one to keep in your summer rotation.
Old Town Splash Park — Lewisville
Old Town Splash Park is such a fun Lewisville option, especially if you want to pair water play with lunch, coffee, or a stroll around Old Town. For the 2026 season, Lewisville lists the splash park opening date as Saturday, May 2. The park was renovated in 2021 and includes 90 interactive water features with no standing water, which is a huge plus for families with younger kids.
This is one of those spots that feels like more than just a splash pad. It is easy to turn it into a little local outing.
Little Elm Splash Pad — Little Elm
Little Elm’s splash pad is a no-cost water play option for kids and families. The Town of Little Elm notes that the splash pad is for all ages, runs automatically during operating hours, and recommends swim diapers for babies and water shoes for children. Dogs are not allowed at the splash pad.
This is a great pick if you are already near Little Elm, Frisco, or the 380 corridor and want something simple, free, and kid-friendly.
Water Works Park — Denton
If you want more than a splash pad, Water Works Park in Denton is a full water park experience. It includes giant slides, a lazy river, a kids’ play pool, cabanas, rentals, and party packages. For 2026, Water Works Park lists daily operations from May 23 through August 9, with weekends only beginning August 15.
This is the option for when you want to make a full day of it.
Kids’ Colony Park Splash Park — The Colony
Kids’ Colony Park is a free community park in The Colony, and the splash park is one of its newer amenities. This is a great spot for families who want a park setting with water play and easy access from The Colony, Frisco, and nearby parts of Denton County.
Collin County Favorites
Frisco Commons Splash Pad — Frisco
Frisco Commons is already one of Frisco’s most loved parks, and the splash pad makes it a go-to summer stop. Frisco splash pads are typically open May 15 through September 30 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather, water restrictions, and maintenance permitting.
This is a great option when you want water play, shaded areas, playground space, and room to hang out.
J.R. Newman Splash Pad — Frisco
J.R. Newman Splash Pad has a fun farming and barn theme, which gives it a little extra charm. Frisco notes that the splash pad is located within J.R. Newman Park and that the water features can be activated by touching the sensor on the blue pillar.
This is a good one for younger kids who like interactive water features and a more neighborhood-park feel.
Windhaven Meadows Park — Plano
Windhaven Meadows Park in Plano is a favorite for families because it has more than just a splash pad. Plano lists the park hours as 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the splash pad open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The park also includes Liberty Playground, which makes it a great option when you want both water play and a larger playground experience.
This one is worth the drive if you want a park that can entertain kids for a while.
Celebration Park — Allen
Celebration Park is one of Allen’s big family parks, with a large sprayground, playground, slides, swings, climbing structures, interactive features, and shaded seating areas.
This is a great pick for families who want a bigger park experience with plenty of space and amenities.
McKinney Splash Pads
McKinney has a strong splash pad lineup, with splash pads open annually from May 1 to October 1 and listed hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Locations include Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex, Ash Woods Park, Aviator Park, Cottonwood Park, Dr. Mack Hill Park, E.A. Randles Park, Finch Park, Horizon Park, Inspiration Park, John M. Whisenant Park, Prestwyck Park, and more.
A few standouts to check out:
Bonnie Wenk Park is great if you want a bigger park feel with walking paths, playground space, and open areas.
Finch Park offers a splash pad, playground, restrooms, pickleball courts, sand volleyball, tennis courts, and a loop trail.
Prestwyck Park has a splash pad, playground, pavilion, basketball court, practice fields, outdoor fitness, BBQ grills, and a trail loop.
Frontier Park — Prosper
Frontier Park is one of Prosper’s main family recreation spots. The park includes a splash pad, Windmill Playground, pavilion, pond, hike and bike trail, and sports complex. Prosper lists the splash pad as open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
This is a great option for families in Prosper, Celina, Frisco, and the north Collin County area.
My Local Mom Tip
For splash pads, always check the city website before you load up the car. Splash pads can close for maintenance, weather, cool temperatures, or water restrictions. I also recommend bringing water shoes, towels, sunscreen, snacks, and a change of clothes so you can keep the outing easy.
Whether you are in Flower Mound, Lewisville, Little Elm, Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Allen, Prosper, or nearby, these parks are a reminder of one of the best parts of living in North Texas: there is always somewhere close by to get outside, cool off, and make a regular summer day feel a little more fun.
